Have you ever plucked up the courage and gone to tell people about something that is bothering you and they come back to you with their own version of “NOT MY PROBLEM”?
Yes?
Me too!
And believe me, this is SO IRRITATING!
I’m like “What? Seriously? After I decided to talk out about my problems and find a solution, you go on to tell me that it is NOT YOUR PROBLEM? Like what on Earth are you? A BALL OF NEGATIVITY?“
But, normally, I just say it inside my head, so no-one hears my awesome comeback instead of me. My actual interaction goes something like this-
The person- Hey! How’s life going?
Me- Ah not so good
The person- Oh really?
Me- Yeah so I’ve been really wound up on Blah..blah..blah.
The person- I’m afraid I can’t help you with that. I’m a bit busy myself.
Me- (inside my head- Huh? Busy? Putting on nail polish?) Ah, no worries.
The person- Yep!
Me- Yeah ok. (inside- ARRGH!)
Now, dear readers do you see the injustice?? (This was just a hypothetical situation, which has never happened to me). Now don’t get me wrong, I do have people I can rely on, but there are “hypocrites” too. Well-
“Ya gotta do what ya do”.
Speaking on mature terms, this is actually a huge problem. I mean come on, half the problems in the world can be solved if you just TALK about it, that’s what people say right? Well, I guess that’s true. BUT, Talking about it will only be successful if people LISTEN to it.
So, if you’re one of those people who can’t be bothered when someone comes to you for help/advice don’t say “It’s not my problem”. Afterall, everyone has bad days and everyone needs help.
And if you’re the kind of person who closes up inside in fear of people judging, DON’T ! Even if someone tells you, it’s not their problem, there will always be people out there who can help! It can be an older sibling, parent, teacher, counselor, friend and so more! (Infact, if you want, even I can help, though I’m not an expert)
Just remember! You’re not alone!
The next time anyone says it’s “Not my Problem” go up to them and tell them that you just wanted help. (I know, the anger inside is hard to control, but well, you can’t erupt on an unsuspecting person, can you?). So remember again-
You’re Awesome and there are soo many people in the world who will be there for you when you need them!
PS- Count me in too! I’ll be there via comments
PPS-You rock! Keep Smiling!!
You make a very valid point. As much as we have ‘are you OK’ days are we hypocrites the rest of the time? I hope not! It’s so important to reach out to someone if you need help or even just a listening ear. And if I’m someone they trusted to come to, I always do whatever I can to help. I might not be able to do much but simple empathy can go a long way.
Kudos to you for calling this out!

Yes, it’s very important to help those who come to us. If this post changes even one person’s attitude towards listening, then it’s a great achievement for me!
Thanks for the lovely visit Jan!

Too many people don’t care about others – selfish, self-centered. But thankfully there are those who do care.

Agreed! Like I said earlier, if this post changes even one person’s perspective, it brings me immense happiness!
